BUSINESSES AND CITIZENS COMMIT TO MACON IT SAFE

Macon, GA –On Monday, September 14, the Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce, Macon-Bibb County, Macon-Bibb Emergency Management Agency, Macon-Bibb Urban Development Authority, NewTown Macon, and Visit Macon launched Macon It Safe.

Macon It Safe is a pledge and campaign for Macon-Bibb County workplaces and citizens to show their commitment to stopping the spread of COVID-19. Business owners and managers of workplaces in Macon-Bibb County are encouraged to sign the Macon It Safe pledge to promote how they are prioritizing a safe and healthy environment for their customers and employees. By signing the pledge, these facilities are acknowledging that they are following all local, state, and federal safety guidelines.

“The Greater Macon Chamber is a proud partner of the Macon It Safe Campaign to promote safe and healthy businesses and workplaces in Macon-Bibb,” said Yvonne Williams, President and CEO of the Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce. “Building consumer confidence is foremost in stimulating our economy. By signing the pledge, businesses are letting the community know that they support a safe and effective economic recovery from the pandemic”.

In addition to supporting a healthy work environment, this pledge is an opportunity for the sponsoring partners to promote local businesses who have signed the pledge. The Macon It Safe website will include a regularly updated list of all businesses and workplaces that have signed the pledge, making it easier for potential customers and constituents to support businesses that are prioritizing COVID-19 safety guidelines. Workplaces will be provided with a toolkit to show their commitment to Macon It Safe.

“The Macon It Safe pledge is a way for our community to show visitors that we are committed to recommended health and safety guidelines,” said Valerie Bradley, Vice President of Marketing at Visit Macon. “If we all do our part, visitors will feel safe when they enter our community and local businesses can benefit through the tourism dollars generated which will lead to an increased economic impact for our community.”

Maconites also have the opportunity to sign the Macon It Safe pledge and have their name added to the website. All citizens have a role to play in stopping the spread of COVID-19 and this campaign allows Maconites to show how they are following guidelines in their everyday lives.

“Many communities across the nation have created safety pledges to support their local economies,” said Josh Rogers, President and CEO of NewTown Macon. “The Macon It Safe campaign takes our pledge one step further by including citizens who are doing their part every day to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and shows that we are a collaborative community that works together to solve tough problems.”
